Biography

Ankur Joshi is a senior banking and risk leader with over 20 years of experience across wealth portfolios spanning Cards, Personal Loans, Mortgages, Commercial Real Estate, and Margin Lending. His core expertise lies in risk management—with deep domain command of risk appetite, analytics, governance, and modelling, which he has consistently deployed to spearhead balanced growth initiatives across markets in Asia, EMEA, and the Americas. He currently serves as Executive Director, Markets at Arete Financial Partners Pte Ltd, Singapore, where he leads the firm’s risk consulting practice across Asia. Previously, Ankur spent nearly two decades in senior positions at Citibank, including Director of Risk Management and Senior Credit Officer (SCO), for portfolios spanning the US, Mexico, Asia South, and Asia North. Across these mandates he built a distinctive track record of translating rigorous risk governance into commercial advantage—calibrating risk appetite frameworks, advancing analytics-led decisioning, and driving sustainable portfolio growth without compromising control. His most recent pivotal plays center on AI adoption within the risk management framework—leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to simplify and de-risk core risk processes, and to embed intelligent decisioning into live credit risk governance as a balanced growth driver across markets in Asia. Ankur holds a PhD in Economics from BITS Pilani, India, with a thesis on AI/ML in risk modelling, and an Executive MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, India. He has published numerous research papers in international journals and is a guest speaker in Economics at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
