Biography

Chandrashan Premakanthan, (Chandru), is a graduate from Carleton University with a Bachelor Honour’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Law and concentration in Psychology. Following his post secondary education, he has continued his learning through obtaining various designations and certifications, (CAMS, FIS, TASA, etc.), becoming a reliable subject matter expert (SME) in multiple risk fields. Chandru has had an extensive career with over 15+ years of professional work experience in the Financial Crime, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Risk Management, Audit, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and various other fields. This experience has been gained across various industries where he has worked at a “Big Five” Canadian Bank, Canada’s Export Credit Agency, and an international “Big Four” Professional Services (Accounting/Consulting) firm. Such experience has allowed him to expand his knowledge of several risks associated with multiple sectors which he is being leveraged in his current role where he serves as the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO), Chief Cybersecurity Officer (CCO), and Deputy Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer (DCAMLO) for the largest publicly traded property and casualty (P&C) insurer.
